Add Kelvin Sensing and Parallel Capability to 3-Terminal Regulators

Focus:

When three-terminal voltage regulators are paralleled to increase output current capability, low-value ballast resistors may be applied to increase current sharing among the regulators. But these resistors degrade load regulation. An alternative approach uses Kelvin sensing to compensate for the impact of the ballast resistor on load regulation.

What you’ll learn:

  • How to parallel three-terminal voltage regulators without degrading load regulation
  • How to implement current sharing across paralleled three-terminal voltage regulators
  • How to add remote sensing to three-terminal voltage regulators
