Answering your Questions about Power Design

High Efficiency Linear Regulators

Focus:

Pre-regulators circuits improve the efficiency of linear regulators by minimizing the voltage drop across the linear regulator. Pre-regulator circuits are presented for applications with widely varying ac input, dc input, variable voltage output, high current output, ultra high efficiency, or micropower levels.

What you’ll learn:

  • How to improve the efficiency of linear regulators using pre-regulator circuits

Notes:

Application Note 32 is based on a manuscript that was originally written for EDN magazine.
