Answering your Questions about Power Design

Compact Electroluminescent Panel Power Supply

Focus:

One of numerous circuits presented in Linear Technology Application Note 61, "Practical Circuitry for Measurement and Control Problems". This particular EL panel power supply circuit, which was developed by Steve Pietkiewicz, eliminates the large transformer normally needed to generate a 400-Hz, 95-V square wave for driving the EL panel, using an LT1108 micropower DC/DC converter IC for this purpose.

What you’ll learn:

  • How to build a compact power supply for EL(Electroluminescent) panels
  • How to eliminate the transformer from a power supply for EL (electroluminescent) panels
