Low Cost Dimmable LED Ballast Using the Valley Fill Current Shaping Circuit Focus: Based on the LNK306PN LinkSwitch-TN chip, a 120-Vac input 70-V 130-mA output constant-current power supply drives LEDs and is dimmable using standard Triacs. Design uses a passive valley-fill PFC circuit to achieve a power factor greater than 0.92 for compliance with Energy Star solid-state lighting (SSL) requirements for commercial applications.
What you’ll learn: - How to build a 9-W 70-V output, 120-VAC input, nonisolated power supply for driving LEDs
- How to build a dimmable, power factor corrected 9-W power supply for driving LEDs
Notes: Design Idea DI-171. Design meets Energy Star requirement forsolid-state lighting (SSL) luminaires.
