Answering your Questions about Power Design

Add Coordinated Overcurrent, Overvoltage Protection To PoE Equipment

Focus:

Single-use fuses and resettable PPTCs can protect PoE equipment from overcurrent conditions. Meanwhile, clamping devices (such as MOVs and TVS diodes) and foldback or crowbar devices (such as gas discharge tubes and thyristor surge suppressors) can protect against overvoltage conditions. Each options has advantages and disadvantages.

What you’ll learn:

  • How to protect power sourcing equipment (PSE) and powered devices (PDs) against overvoltage and overcurrent conditions (overview)
