High Efficiency, Low Cost, Non-Isolated 350 mA, 12 V LED Driver Focus: A circuit design based on the LNK605DG LinkSwitch-II chip is presented for a universal input, 12-Vdc 350-mA output, CV/CC power supply for LED driver applications. This nonisolated design uses a tapped buck topology, which enables a smaller PCB, smaller inductor core, higher efficiency, and better EMI performance than a comparable isolated flyback converter.
What you’ll learn: - How to build a 4.2-W, universal input nonisolated power supply for driving three high-power LEDs
Notes: Design Idea DI-186. Design meets Energy Star requirements for solid state lighting (SSL) luminaries. A more detailed reference design is presented in Design Example Report DER-186 available at http://www.powerint.com/sites/default/files/PDFFiles/der186.pdf .
