100V Controller Drives High Power LED Strings from Just about Any Input

Focus:

Designs based on the LT3756 controller IC drive LED strings of varying sizes (i.e. different numbers of LEDs), while operating from widely varying input voltage ranges. The controller supports a variety of power conversion topologies. Three design examples are presented. A boost LED driver design for stadium lighting delivers 125 W (83 V at 1.5-A output) while operating from a 40-V to 60-V input. A buck LED driver design powers a single LED or two series-connected LEDs, while operating from a 10-V to 80-V input. A buck-boost LED driver delivers 10-V to 50-V output at 400 mA, while operating from a 9-V to 36-V input.
