High Efficiency USB Power Management System Safely ChargesLi-Ion/Polymer Batteries from Automotive Supplies Focus: A design based on the LT4098 USB power manager/Li-ion battery charger IC and the LT3480 high-voltage buck regulator IC charges Li-ion batteries (such as those used in GPS units and music/video players) while powered from either an automotive battery or a USB port (5 V). The circuit provides protection against automotive battery reversal and load-dump transients. In lieu of an automotive battery, the circuit could also accept power from a Firewire system.
What you’ll learn: - How to build a Li-ion battery charger that accepts power from an automotive battery or USB port
