Match Circuit And Field Resistances For Optimal Magnetics Design Focus: In this article, the author explains how the design of transformers and coupled inductors (transductors) can be optimized for maximum power transfer and optimum core utilization by matching the resistance of the circuit to that of the magnetic field of the core. Equations are derived for optimizing core selection and turns ratio to achieve these objectives and then a power converter design example is presented to illustrate the application of these equations.
