An introduction to benchtop dc power supplies Focus: Ac-dc power supplies developed for use as lab instruments or as production test equipment come in many different forms. This short article describes the various benchtop power supply categories in order of increasing functionality and complexity. These include battery eliminator supplies, constant-voltage supplies, constant-voltage/constant-current supplies, multi-output supplies, programmable supplies, and finally dual and multi-range supplies.
