All Aboard The Silicon Carbide Train--Literally

Focus:

This short article discusses the development of SiC power semiconductors in Japan, particularly the recent efforts by companies such as Loam and later Mitsubishi Denki, Fuji Denki, and Denso to develop components. These companies have lagged Cree and Infineon in bringing parts to market. Some actual applications for the Japanese companies'chips are mentioned. There are also some awkwardkly worded descriptions of the benefits of SiC power devices and technology.
